In 2000 maybe when it actually could have done some good for the labels to hear this sentiment from someone they at least grudgingly respected. Nowadays however it just feels like the worst kind of bandwagon jumping: like your grandpa explaining how much he likes “the rock and roll”. In fact, since Rolling Stone was too busy abandoning music coverage to become yet another toxic celebrity gossip rag back then to join the fight against the labels’ suicidal idiocy, I have to say I’m not really interested in hearing it from them now after the fight has been so thoroughly and tragically lost.
